FAQ

When is the season for hunting?

From late February to the end of October is our busiest time of year. Hunting is most enjoyable during the winter months, which run from May to September. We hunt all year round, but from late October to late February, be prepared for the heat. The cooler months of June, July, August, and September IS ideal for bowhunters.

How likely is it that I'll find every animal I want in the package?

Rarely, although it has happened, a hunting client has not had the chance to hunt every species included in their package. To provide our clients with the best chance to hunt the animals on their list, we scout the game all year long. You just do not pay for it if, for whatever reason, an animal in the package ends up not being hunted.

Is there a rifle I can hire for my safari?

Approximately 70% of our guests do not bring their own weapons, even though we prefer that they do. We hire out a variety of different calibers since for some people it is simply not worth the effort.

How far is the shots?

When hunting plains game, a rifle shot would typically be between 100 and 250 yards. Longer shots are OK as well, but because this is the most common situation, we advise you to practice shooting from sticks and standing up. Most blinds are positioned for shots between 20 and 35 yards if you're bow hunting.

How can I return home with my trophies?

At no cost to you, a member of our team will skin and salt your capes at the lodge. After that, a reputable taxidermy business will visit the lodge to retrieve your trophies, boil the skulls, clean the horns, package them, and handle the export documentation. A bill for this will be emailed to you in a month or two. After an export agent picks up the crate, they will provide you with an estimate for return transportation to your nation, usually by sea freight. To obtain this box containing your trophies, it is advised that you use an import agent in your nation of origin. When they get there, they can either go straight to your taxidermist or send the trophies directly to your home via Ground freight.

What caliber and gun do you recommend?

One hunter can carry 2 different calibers and a maximum of 200 cartridges per gun. If you are hunting dangerous game in South Africa, the minimum requirement is .375. For normal games we recommend .30 caliber or similar. For ammo we recommend any premium ammo such as Barnes, Woodleigh, Swift A-Frame..

What is your injured play policy?

Unfortunately, due to the ease of predators, disease and infection, any injured game will be paid in full. But rest assured we have great trackers and great PHs who will do their best to find injured game. The most common vulnerable species are blue wildebeest and gembok. Shot placement is key. If you listen to the PH and hit them in the right spot, they won't run very far.

Are you hunting other African countries?

Yes. For more experienced hunters, we also issue hunting licenses in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Namibia.

Do we have a chance to buy souvenirs?

Yes, if time allows, we can visit a few shops to buy everything from snowman key chains to wood carvings, jewelry and clothes. OR TAMBO airport departure terminal also has great shops where you will definitely spend money. In addition, we can arrange a stop at one of our local hunting shops before or after the Safari.
